OUR WINE

Our wine is personally attended to by award winning winemaker, Mark Burch. It is cellared in different combinations of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels for 18 months. Our syrah won its first gold medal at the California State Fair Wine Competition in 2004 with our premiere release of our 2002 Lake County Reserve Syrah. The Red Hills Lake County Appellation was approved as a distinct wine growing region that same year.

Winemaker Notes: "This vineyard continues to produce a Syrah that is highly extracted with concentrated color, depth and complexity one would expect from the Red Hills Lake County AVA. Excellent to drink now or cellar for a few years." Mark Burch

2004 Syrah Reserve Lake County
"The promise is there in this ripe, plush wine, with its rich tannins and good acidity. It’s rewarding in herb-tinged blackberry jam, plum, violet, coffee and chocolate flavors, with a distinct white pepper edge...— S.H. (11/1/2007) "

Tasting notes: Deep crimson/black in color with bright notes of crème de cassis, blackberry, black raspberry, mocha and minerals. A well balanced mid-palate that shows mixed berry fruit, black pepper, rich tannins and a long supple finish.
